Signed Lewis R. (Ransome) Freeman / Pasadena California paid on August 19, 1913 by Brown Brothers NYC.

Freeman was a gentleman traveler and photo journalist who ran the gambit from Geological Surveys to an active member of New York's famed Explorer's Club.

His early experience as war correspondent in the Russo-Japanese War and travel through China no doubt create the sympathetic frame of an abused (and often forgotten) labor source that we see here.

Toning and ink specs, tack holes to the mount (5 x 6") and press marks reverse.
